PROJECT PLANT
URBAN FARM TO PIZZERIA | LONDON | 2022
Award-winning immersive dome experience with hydroponic farming, commissioned by Samsung to showcase sustainable urban food systems.
Commissioned by Exposure and Samsung UK, Green Lab was at the heart of Project Plant — an immersive, sustainable food experience designed to inspire urban communities to grow and consume food more sustainably – launching the UK’s First Urban-Farm-To-Table Pizzeria.
Over just 10 weeks, we imagined, designed, built, and hosted a fully operational indoor urban farm inside four six-metre geodesic domes at The Film Shed in Hackney, London. The experience featured hydroponic basil towers, oyster mushroom installations, and fresh produce including rocket, tomatoes, and over 3,000 basil plants — all grown in controlled environments using custom low-cost systems we designed and built from scratch at BLOQS makerspace.
Visitors moved through each dome, learning about sustainable food systems and harvesting their own pizza toppings. The journey culminated in a farm-to-table pizzeria experience with freshly made vegan sourdough pizzas from Purezza.
With over 2,000 attendees across three days, Project Plant demonstrated how urban farming can thrive in small spaces with limited resources, using technology to monitor, manage, and reduce waste in the food production process.
Winner of Best B2C Brand Experience at the 2022 Campaign Experience Awards.
