Green Lab is a Regenerative Design Lab working as a living lab for climate-positive innovation. We help organisations rethink how we grow food, use materials, and build regenerative systems — turning climate goals into practical, place-based solutions for businesses, governments, and communities.

Founded in 2015 in a disused London school, Green Lab transformed the space into the city’s first urban agri-tech incubator using only reclaimed materials. As a living lab, it became a place to prototype, test, and scale circular ideas in the real world — a hands-on foundation that continues to guide our work today.

Now operating across Europe, Green Lab works at the intersection of circular thinking, regenerative strategy, and ecological design. We build food systems, hydroponics, and nutrient recovery solutions that cut carbon and close loops. We help organisations rethink materials and processes — replacing extractive models with biomaterial innovation and resilient, regenerative systems.

From food to fashion, we bring together creatives, mavericks, and changemakers to design, build, and scale real-world solutions rooted in nature.

OUR APPROACH.

Our approach is deeply rooted in regeneration – designing systems that restore rather than deplete, and building capacity where it’s needed most. All of our work aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to food security, climate resilience, sustainable production, and healthier cities and communities.

From urban agriculture to fashion, we work with startups and global brands to replace extractive models with biomaterial innovation and systems that work with nature — not against it.

We explore and prototype new ways of working with materials, land and resources. Our team leads bio-material research, build Fab Labs for innovation, and supports rapid prototyping for early-stage ideas. Through government-funded research and independent programmes, we turn experimental ideas into scalable solutions.

We create learning experiences that inspire action. From school programmes for KS3 students to hands-on residencies for university researchers, we help people understand and engage with sustainability in meaningful ways. Our public programmes and community co-design work bring regeneration to life in everyday spaces.

We believe collaboration is the key to lasting impact. Green Lab works closely with academic institutions like UCL, UAL and IBYDA, and we’re proud to be part of the global Fab Lab network of over 1,800 innovation labs.
