we’re a multi-disciplnary innovation lab
‘… we are re-thinking how food systems should work better, we design new experimental bio-materials and co-create to build more circular urban environments …’
Green Lab was founded in 2015 in Central London in partnership with 3Space, an urban regeneration charity, where we took a 500sqm site meanwhile site and designed and built our lab using 100% upcycled materials salvaged from a local theatre company, decommissioned bio labs and art freight containers. Green Lab was London’s first incubator workspace for urban farming entrepreneurs and ‘agritech’ startup businesses.
Fast foward to 2023 and we now operate in the UK, mainland Europe and SE Asia with a network of partners helpings communities, businesses and organisations with net-zero climate impact programmes, projects and technology solutions. Our labs are independently funded centres designed to support sustainable and ecological innovation, food systems research, education programmes from KS3 through to undergrad and scalable rapid prototyping capabilities for UK and European based organisations.
We focus on the design of circular sustainable food systems that balance health and nutritional outcomes with ecological principles that has people and the planet at its heart.

We are design focused
From harvesting a food source to closing the loop on food waste we believe that design is the single most effective way of solving sustainability challenges. We design sustainable food systems that put natural and healthier foods into our homes and places of work. We experiment with and design natural, circular systems that are resilient and productive.
URBAN ENVIRONMENTS
As the world urbanises we see our cities as places with opportunity, to experiment and develop food systems that make people and spaces healthier. We work to educate and inspire people and communities to co-design food systems that work for everyone and that produce more than they consume; reducing our food mileage and carbon footprints.
RADICAL THINKERS
Circularity and zero waste are our guiding principles. We are not afraid to be bold, radical and progressive in how we experiment with design, architecture or the science of circular systems. Not only are these optimal for food production they are also pioneering in terms of value. Our team of design specialist and mavericks have been designing natural systems for 20+ years.
Aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
All of our projects are aligned with sustainable and positive climate impact goals working in rural and urban enviromments.
